Per my last post (https://social.jayvii.de/objects/tHRArkhwOLg) about bang-search: Do you know of any super-specialised #search engines that are worthwhile including in my little fun project traserĉi?

Lately, I've been using @MetaGer #MetaGer as my main #SearchEngine, but had been really missing bangs (known from #DuckDuckGo and other search engines).

So this morning I threw together a short #PHP site that I could use as search front, which handles bangs and redirects me to the correct search engine (is this meta-meta? ;D):

Out of curiosity, what would happen to followings, followers and federation if my #Activitypub #fediverse handle would change it's publickey, but instance, username & webfinger would stay the same? #mastodev #fedidev

My #strato VPS becomes completely unresponsive at random intervalls every few weeks for unknown reasons. Sometimes static webpages are still accessible and browsable, but PHP executions fail. Docker containers are not reachable. SSH connections just time out or disconnect immediayely. I then have to reboot the VPS via strato's dashboard. Also random downtime for 1-2 minutes at random intervals every day.

 It is really odd, I have never experienced something like that with other VPS providers and had the same issue with strato with different servers, completely different setups and use cases.

Anyone else having similar a experience? Considering switching to #hetzner or #netcup, both of which I have made only positive experiences with.

Experimenting with #sway for a bit (https://src.jayvii.de/pub/dotfiles/file/sway/.config/sway/config.html). Feels a lot more mature (but obv less flashy) than #wayfire. And really snappy! If you have any tipps or suggestions, feel free to send them my way :) #Linux #wayland

So the solution to the (newest) #Mozilla #Firefox debacle is to use esoteric forks that may or may not be developed further, may or may not implement security patches in due time and may or may not be out of breath as well, once Mozilla drops dead?

What else could one do? use #Epiphany/#GNOME Web? Browser monoculture is at its peak...

Both #DuckDuckDuckGo as well as #Qwant seem to be full in on #AI powered summaries of search results. With every year, online search seems to slip more into #enshittification with #SEO madness and #AI generated content and searches.

Time to pick up other search engines like #MetaGer, #mojeek or #SearX
