I am JayVii, a data enthusiast with a passion for Free and Open Source Software. I care about social inclusion & privacy. This is my personal Fediverse server, powered by ktistec. I modified its appearance with my own adjustments.

I typically remove shared posts after ca. 3–6 months. I do keep most of my own posts (for now).

My never ending quest to redefine my news reading habits have fallen back to old school newspaper reading, but with a twist!

Using a pretty cool RSS aggregator that writes into templates of arbitrary formats in combination with some RegEx foo and a full-page scraper, I am now able to read "newspaper" every morning either on the phone, PC or ebook reader and be done with it for the rest of the day.

I realised that I fall into the habit of checking news constantly, even when using classic RSS readers for it. During my test-flights in the past week, this hacky project appears to work-for-me(TM)

Sarkastischer Kommentar zur Teilzeitdebatte der Union

Bzgl des fast schon menschenfeindlichen & realitätsfernen Vorstoß der sog. Mittelstands- & Wirtschaftsunion zur Abschaffung des Rechts auf Teilzeit: dann aber wenigstens auch in beide Richtungen, da freut sich der akademische Mittelbau an deutschen Universitäten, wenn 50% & 65% Stellen zukünftig auf 100% augestockt werden müssten.

Because I have been reading discussions lately about blocking shared posts and sharing/boosting etiquettes in the fediverse, I turned off all shared/boosted posts from others today. Surprisingly, my timeline became a lot more interesting, and now I am doubting the sense of sharing posts and social media in general...

Since all my websites and web-tools use the phenomenal #SimpleCSS framework, I thought it would also make sense to create a theme for #ktistec using those exact colours. Of course, this is also available from my ktistec-tweaks, next to the old purpleish-theme, which I had before.

Also new is the separation of the card-style post theming, which is also shown in the screenshot below, in its own CSS file.

So either I completely misunderstood how the #Nitrokey 3 NFC chip should have worked with #Android (at least supports fido2 and apparently PGP), or the #Fairphone 4 does not play nicey with this... Real bummer, because this is basically a brick for me 50% of the time now
